About This Course

Social anxiety is more than shyness. It is an intense, persistent fear of social or performance situations, driven by the belief that you will say or do something humiliating, embarrassing, or that will lead to rejection or negative evaluation by others.

At its heart, social anxiety is a threat response — the brain treating the social environment as though it were as dangerous as a physical threat. The result is a life increasingly confined by avoidance: declining invitations, avoiding eye contact, not speaking up in meetings, rehearsing and replaying conversations, dreading social obligations.

This course provides a structured, evidence-based programme for overcoming social anxiety — drawing from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and compassion-focused approaches. It will teach you to understand the mechanics of social anxiety, challenge the distorted thinking that drives it, gradually expose yourself to feared situations, and build genuine social confidence grounded in acceptance rather than performance.
