About Johnny

A Therapist Who Understands the Nigerian Journey

Johnny Ukeme N. is a BSc Psychology graduate and certified professional counsellor with over 12 years of experience walking alongside individuals, couples, and families through some of life's most difficult seasons. He is the founder of Hisparadise Therapy, one of the most trusted therapy and coaching centres in Asaba and across Nigeria.

Johnny founded Hisparadise Therapy because he saw what so many Nigerians carried silently — anxiety, grief, broken relationships, career exhaustion, the pressure of expectations that had no room for vulnerability. He built this space to change that. To be the place where speaking honestly about your inner life is not weakness, but the beginning of something better.

His work is rooted in deep cultural understanding. Johnny knows that therapy in Nigeria cannot be imported and applied without context — that family, faith, financial pressure, and societal expectation shape every story that walks through his door. He brings that understanding into every session, every conversation, and every relationship he builds with his clients.

How I Work

My Approach

No two clients are the same. My approach is flexible, human, and always centred on you — not a formula, not a script, but a genuine conversation about your real life.

Person-Centred

You are the expert on your own life. I don't arrive with answers — I arrive with questions that help you find yours. My role is to hold the space while you do the work.

Culturally Rooted

I understand the Nigerian context — family obligation, faith dynamics, societal expectations. I work within your cultural reality, not in spite of it.

Evidence-Based

Drawing on CBT, narrative therapy, solution-focused approaches, and motivational interviewing — proven frameworks, applied with care and flexibility.

Trauma-Informed

I understand that what looks like behaviour is often a response to pain. I approach every client with that understanding — with gentleness, safety, and no rush.

On faith and spirituality: I respect and honour the role that faith plays in many of my clients' lives. I don't impose a framework, but I am experienced in working with clients who want their spiritual life to be part of the conversation — and for whom faith is a genuine source of strength and meaning.
