My 12-year-old has always been fairly social and cheerful. Over the last five or six weeks something has shifted. They are quieter, spending more time alone, not interested in things they used to enjoy. Their school grades haven't slipped. They say everything is fine when I ask.
I don't want to project or catastrophise. But I also don't want to miss something important.
At what point does normal childhood moodiness become something worth taking seriously? And how do I have this conversation with my child without making them feel like something is wrong with them?
